Dear HES Parents,
We are excited to share that beginning next week (March 30-April 3), our students will participate in the Spring iREADY Diagnostic Assessment. This assessment is an important tool that helps us better understand each child’s academic progress and individual needs.

Why the iREADY Diagnostic is Important?:

-Provides a clear picture of your child’s current skill level in reading and math
-Helps teachers identify strengths and areas for growth
-Guides personalized instruction to support student success
-Tracks progress from the beginning of the year to now

How You Can Support Your Child?:


-Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each night
-Encourage a positive mindset! Remind them to do their best!
-Make sure they arrive at school on time each day
-Provide a healthy breakfast to help them stay focused
-Remind them to take their time and show what they know.

In addition, we will be celebrating “Mission Possible Spirit Week” to keep our students motivated and energized during testing! 🎉

On March 10, 2026, Colleton County School District held the Committee of the Whole meeting. We are proud to share the Bells Elementary School Beta Club won 4th place in the National Beta Club State Competition for Elementary Campaign Skit. They proudly displayed their award and poster board showing information about their club while reading the mission statement.

Staff recognition included: BES – Haicycris Lapuz (resource teacher), BSECC – Christy Crosby (powerschool clerk), CES –Maria Guzman (4th grade teacher), FHE – Merilyn Williams (media specialist), HES – Dian Clark (3rd grade teacher), NES – Kendrae Hiers (PE teacher), CCMS – Kim Willis (7th grade secretary), CCHS – Toija Bennett (positive behavior support specialist), and TCTC – Jerry Edens (welding teacher), CALC – Martha Adams (receptionist).

During the staff recognitions, Colleton Adult Learning Center director, Chris Horvath, presented Mrs. Martha Adams with a clock for her length of time serving with the Colleton County School District.

On February 17, 2026, Colleton County School District held the Regular School Board meeting. Mrs. Catherine Fanchette read the mission statement on behalf of the Colleton Adult Learning Center.

Student recognition included: BES – Johnathan Britt, BSECC – Eli Fields, CES –Corvo Little, FHE – Saul Martinez Ivon, HES – Sky Ramirez, NES – Alleonna Brown, CCHS – Hugo Ackerman, and TCTC – Marissa Goettee.

Congratulations to the following students who passed their Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the fall class: Zyon Bowman, Jhyricka Brown, Sarah Cobbs, Alecia Creel, Alexa Eversole, Deshaad Fishburne, London Maxwell, Aubree Sharper, Payton Tuten, Rehyanna Washington and Kailei Willard.

On February 10, 2026, Colleton County School District held the Committee of the Whole meeting. The Northside Elementary School Shark Tank Team read the mission statement.

Staff recognition included: BES – Megan McMillan (4th grade teacher), BSECC – Stacy Holmes (Kindergarten teacher), CES – Ann Smalls (Lead Custodian), FHE – Romeo Amaga (3rd grade teacher), HES – Carol Paul (Instructional Coach), NES – Semone Bollers (Teacher Assistant), CCMS – Jocelyn McNeil (Principal Secretary), CCHS – Zita Mbaga (Teacher), and TCTC – Robin Lutton (Teacher).

Thank you to our Colleton County School District Professional School Counselors and Career Development Facilitators. Your commitment to access and opportunity ensures that every student is supported and empowered to succeed. Our counselors and facilitators include: BES – Andrea Brown, BSECC – Harold Brown, CES – Katura Williams, FHE – Brittany Shider, HES – Elizabeth Varn, NES – Elaine Inabinett, CCMS – Anna Stephens, James Pedigo & Charlene Williams, CCHS – Minthalee Stephens, Pamela Kinard, Dominic Kahee, Kathy Shider, Jasmine Williams, Romeo Edwards, Alana Lane, and TCTC – Shon Johnson & Denise Wright-Johnson.

Northside Elementary Administration team consisting of Lauren Behie, Diamond Berry and Michelle Phillips made a special presentation regarding future implementations to enhance the learning environment and incentives for students.

A plaque with special recognition was presented to Tracy McDonald for her hard work and dedication. Her contributions assisted in the improvement of our school report card scores. Mrs. McDonald was the Coordinator of Assessment and Accountability before retiring at the end of the 2025 school term.

3rd Quarter Awards Day

DEAR HES PARENTS,
We are excited to celebrate our Character Parade today at 1:00 PM on the bus loop. Our students are looking forward to showcasing their favorite book characters as part of our literacy celebration.

Parents and family members are welcome to attend and enjoy the parade as our students walk through the bus loop in their character costumes.

Please note the following important reminder:

Students may not leave with parents directly from the parade area.
If you plan to take your child home after the parade, you must sign them out through the Main Office.
This helps us ensure the safety and proper dismissal of all students.

Dear HES parents,
We are excited to celebrate Read Across America Week, beginning this Monday! 📚 This special week is dedicated to encouraging a love of reading and celebrating the power of books to inspire imagination, curiosity, and learning. This year's theme is, " A Nation of Diverse Readers".
To make the week fun and engaging, we will have Spirit Days throughout the week. Students are invited to participate by dressing according to each day’s theme. Please see the Spirit Day schedule that is attached.

Participation is optional, but we encourage all students to join in the celebration as we promote literacy and the joy of reading across our school community and nation.

Colleton County School District is excited to host the 1st Annual District-Wide Special Olympics and Unified Sports Spring Games on April 3, 2026. Mark your calendar and come out to show your support for these young athletes.
