What an unforgettable day!
On Friday, March 14, 2025, our amazing Exceptional Athletes traveled to Woodland High School to compete in the 2025 Special Olympics - and they SHINED! 🤩
They dashed through the 100m 🏃♂️
Launched tennis & softballs across the field 🎾
Took on the long jump with fearless determination 💪🏽
And WE CHEERED OUR HEARTS OUT! 📣🩵
It was a day full of sunshine, smiles, and school spirit as our Cougars brought home some serious new BLING 🥇🥈🥉
A huge THANK YOU to the amazing teachers, chaperones, parents, Nurse Frank and athlete buddies who made this day possible. Your support, energy, and love lifted our athletes every step of the way! 💗
We are so PROUD of our Cougars!

Hello. My name is Lois Ackerman. I am a proud school bus driver for the Colleton County School District. I have been a bus driver for almost 11 years. There are things that the children say and do that amazes me. This week is considered "Read Across America" in honor of Dr. Seuss. I always dress up on certain holidays for my children. I always enjoy dressing up as the Cat in the Hat and reading to the children. I had the privilege to read for Mrs. Mabry's class at Forest Hills this morning. I talked to my children on the bus this morning about Dr. Seuss. It was mostly elementary and middle school. Some said they did not know much about him. I asked questions when I finished telling them all about him. Each and every one answered my questions correctly. They loved the way I was dressed. The children in elementary, believe it or not, said they were going to tell their teacher what they learned this morning. So any time you get a chance to talk to children, talk about things to help them learn. Again, I love my children on bus route #2.

Colleton County School District is actively monitoring the severe weather approaching South Carolina. We are receiving valuable updates from our local county emergency management team and the National Weather Service. This weather is predicted to include high wind gusts, potential hail, and tornadic activity. At this time, we have made the decision to cancel school on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. All afterschool and athletic activities will also be cancelled Wednesday. In closing, the school district is committed to the safety and education of all students. Our goal is to provide a secure and supportive learning environment, even in times of emergency.
We will continue to post all school-related changes to our district website (www.colleton.k12.sc.us) and our district’s social media platforms by 4:00 pm daily.
